At Massage Remedy, we believe every body is unique and therefore every treatment will be unique, what your body needs may also change week to week. The best treatment approach often optimizes a combination of specialized massage and myofascial techniques and tools (like cupping, hot stone, or kinesio taping).
Massage can be much more than a relaxing spa treatment. Registered Massage Therapists are trained to assess and treat a variety of pain patterns and symptoms. A therapeutic massage is much more specific in approach, aiming to treat the muscles directly contributing to your postural tension or pain, as well as addressing compensating structures to ensure more lasting results.
Absolutely! Just like we visit our dentist regularly to maintain dental health, getting a regular massage or other musculoskeletal treatments is just another way to proactively support our overall health! Regular massage will keep your muscles feeling loose and your joints nice and mobile helping you move and perform your best!
Short answer? No! In fact, going too deep to the point of pain just puts the body into fight or flight, which may just exacerbate your symptoms. That said, deep tissue and myofascial techniques can be uncomfortable occasionally. The key is that we work within your individual pain tolerance, you should be able to breath comfortably and relax into the technique. If your muscles are reflexively tensing up, than we will back off the pressure. It is important to always communicate with your therapist.
It isn't necessary to undress to be treated effectively. Clients will always be directed to de-robe to their personal comfort level, that can be anything from going nude on the table, leaving undergarments on, wearing sport clothing, or religious garments. Rest assured, you can expect a quality treatment regardless, and whatever you choose, you will be draped the entire session and only the specific area your RMT is treating will be uncovered.
It is recommended to arrive on time or 5 minutes early to every appointment just so you don't feel rushed. There is no paperwork to fill out in person as you will receive your intake forms by email once you've booked your session. It IS required that you have this form filled out before your session or it may cut into your scheduled massage time.
To ensure your treatment is effective and comfortable, there are a couple things we recommend: 1. Bring sport clothes for fascial stretch therapy sessions (shorts and a tank top is best so we can access more skin). 2. Hydrate prior to your session by drinking water, this ensures your tissues are also hydrated which will decrease discomfort and potential post-session soreness.
Massage has numerous benefits including decreasing muscle tension and pain, increasing range of motion, decreasing cortisol levels, and increasing serotonin and dopamine levels to relieve stress. Fascial stretch therapy will decrease pain, increase flexibility and range of motion, mobility, posture, balance, coordination, power, and strength. People of all ages benefit from this treatment. Lymphatic drainage helps to stimulate your immune system and will provide relief from inflammation such as allergies, acne, or eczema (subacute or chronic stage). It helps in the reduction of edema (swelling), aids in detoxification, promotes deep relaxation, and causes tissue regeneration (scars, burns) and anti-aging effects. Most importantly you will also be able to relax in the comfort of your own home after your session!
The standard massage table is 73 inches long and 28 inches wide. We require enough room to move around the table and bring you into stretches, so a good rule of thumb is the size of the table plus 3-4 feet around the table.
If we are working on a specific concern or area, a treatment plan will be created with the client and the timing will vary depending the concerns. For maintenance, we recommend every 4 weeks.
Osteopathy (Manual Osteopathic Therapy), is a hands-on treatment approach that focuses on restoring the body’s natural function by addressing the root cause of pain, imbalance, or dysfunction. Rather than isolating symptoms, osteopathy takes a holistic view of the body, recognizing that all systems are interconnected and that structural misalignments can impact overall health. By applying specialized techniques such as osteo-articulation, advanced myofascial release, manual lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, joint mobilization, and muscle energy techniques, Manual Osteopathic Therapists work to optimize structural alignment, enhance circulation, and support the body’s natural healing processes. These techniques, guided by the World Health Organization’s benchmarks for osteopathic training, aim to improve fluid dynamics, nervous system communication, and metabolic function. When structural obstructions disrupt the body’s natural flow, they can contribute to a range of issues, including pain, fatigue, and organ dysfunction. Osteopathy seeks to correct these imbalances, promoting overall well-being through gentle, hands-on therapies that support the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

During an osteopathic treatment session, you can expect a personalized, hands-on approach that focuses on addressing the root cause of your discomfort. The session typically begins with a detailed intake, where your Manual Osteopathic Therapist will discuss your health history, current concerns, and any specific areas of pain or dysfunction. Following the intake, a full body assessment of your movement and posture will be conducted to identify any restrictions or imbalances in your body. You may be asked to stand, sit, or lie down in various positions throughout the session, depending on what is being assessed and treated. Treatment itself is highly individualized, as no two bodies are the same. Techniques such as gentle joint mobilization, osteo-articulation, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation may be used to restore balance and improve function. Throughout the session, open communication is encouraged, ensuring that you are comfortable and aware of how your body is responding to the treatment. In most cases, you will remain clothed during the session, so it is recommended to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for ease of movement. The goal of osteopathic treatment is to work with your body’s natural healing processes, promoting overall well-being and restoring function in a way that feels supportive and effective for you.
Craniosacral deals with the cranium, the sacrum, the spinal column and the fluid that moves within the cranium and spinal column. Gentle techniques are used to free up anything that is restricting the movement of this fluid. Common issues that can be treated are: Insomnia Headaches Migraines Vertigo Emotional Stress Anxiety Spinal Cord Injuries Fibromyalgia
We gently move the organs and the connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds and holds the organs in place. The movement or manipulation helps to restore their normal rhythm and function. Common issues that can be treated are: Digestive Problems Abdominal Cramps IBS Fertility Problems Painful Menses Heartburn Indigestion Constipation
